Public Cloud Management

Thinking of moving to the cloud? Let us guide you through the process and manage your workload.

AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, and more. There are so many options to move your on-prem data and workloads to the cloud. We can help break down the pros and cons of each and match your business needs to the cloud that will work best for you.

Pre Move

Before you move to the cloud, we will need to gather information about and understand your current infrastructure. Every server, virtual machine, storage array, and backup tape needs to be accounted for to ensure you don’t get stuck running multiple environments.

Once all of your infrastructure is accounted for we can work on finding the best method to move to the cloud.

  • Lift and shift: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Using this strategy you can quickly and efficiently move your existing environments to the cloud. While the upfront costs may be cheap, without a plan the operational costs will grow as you are likely not taking advantage of the efficiencies the cloud offers.

  • Replatform: IaaS meets Platform as a Service (PaaS) One step up from the lift and shift would be replatforming your workloads to begin to take advantage of some cloud benefits. For example, if you are running a handful of SQL servers in your environment right now you may want to look at moving them to a hosted version of the SQL flavor you are using. This strategy can be more costly and take a little bit longer then lifting and shifting. However, the up front cost from leveraging the cloud components of your current infrastructure can easily manifest in operational cost savings as time goes on.

  • Refactor or Rebuild: Cloud native An extreme measure you can take would be rebuilding your applications from the ground up to leverage cloud native technologies. This can be a hard choice for most companies as it has a very high upfront cost as you are going to rearchitect and rebuild your applications. You would realize the future cost savings in the operational cost of running your applications by using technologies built into the cloud you choose such as autoscaling to allow your systems to only run the servers you need to meet the demand at any given time.

Post Move

We won’t leave you on your own after your data is in the cloud. We are available to monitor and manage your cloud infrastructure to ensure that your applications are available when you need them. Having us monitor your cloud presence means we are able to give you recommendations on security measures and costs savings that could benefit your business.

Did you lift and shift and your ongoing costs seem extreme? It may be time to figure out how to start taking advantages that being in the cloud provides you. You can save both money and time by using managed versions of SQL databases, Caching such as Redis, Memcache, and Elastic Search, container orchestration such as kubernetes, and much more. We can help navigate you through the minefield of pros and cons that each of these services bring with them.
